Part 2

All during History Alexis couldn’t help but to think about Sammie and the kiss he planted on her hand. Those girls in the hall saw what happened. Would they tell Madison? She couldn’t afford to have enemies at her new school already. She had quite a bit of trouble at her last school. She tried not to think about what happened at her last school but sometimes the memories slipped in.

Luckily for Alexis the bell rang. The other student rushed out of the classroom faster then before since it was lunch. Alexis knew that she wouldn’t be hungry because her nerves were going to be on edge from her first day.

She was the last one out of the class room and the last one in the halls as well. She walked the way that Sammie had told her to go to find the café. When she turned the corner she walked into a sea of hungry teenagers eager to make it into the lunch line before the next person. She was glad that she didn’t have to bother with that mess, not until tomorrow at least. She did have another issue at hand anyway. If she did find Madison, Sammie and their friends, would she set with them? She stood just outside the café, looking inwards not knowing what to do. She had half a mind just to eat her lunch in a dark corner alone.

After thinking that wasn’t such a bad idea Alexis turned around to leave and smacked straight into someone. When she looked up she saw that it was the cutest boy she had ever seen. He was tall, dark and dreamy. Blue eyes, killer smile and damn was he tall. Alexis hadn’t realized why he looked so tall was because she was lying on the ground. She looked panicked and embarrassed as she tried to gather herself off the floor. The guy held out his hand.

“Are you alight? You took a nasty spill.” He said. The words came out of his mouth like poetry. Alexis was just happy that her plaid skirt didn’t go up to the chin. She took his hand and allowed him to pull her to her feet.

“Yeah I’m fine, thank you.” She said.

“Good. You’re new right?” he asked.

“Yeah, today is my first day.”

“Okay well welcome to Woodrow-Moore. Are you looking for someone? You seem kinda like.”

“Ummm…I guess kinda.”

“Maybe I can help, who are you looking for?’ the gorgeous mystery man ask as he shoved his fist into the pockets of black pants. Alexis couldn’t help but to notice his black and red stripped tie hanging loosely around his neck and his dark, chocolate coloured hair looked adorable even though it had that I-just-rolled-out-of-bed look. ‘Hello?” he asked, waving his hand in front of her face.

“Oh. Uh. Yeah sorry. I was looking for Madison Jones.” Alexis finally said. The guy nodded his head slowly, as if he knew just who she was talking about. They continued to linger in the hallways just outside the doors.

“Madison Jones, Miss High School herself. She runs this school. You’re brave though, following her and her crew. You cross her once shame on you, you cross her twice you probably won’t live to see another day.” He explained.

“Is she really that vicious?” Alexis asked.

“She can be, like I said if you don’t cross her and always give her what she wants, you’ll be alright but her older brother, Ethan is way worse.”

“Really? How?” she asked, letting her curiosity get the better of her. She thought being nosey was in a girl’s nature since Alexis lived for good juicy piece of gossip.

“Oh Ethan Jones is a real tom cat. He prowls around campus and finds the fresh meat. He’s a regular ladies man.” The boy said with a smile as if he was proud.

“Sounds like a real asshole if you ask me.” Alexis said.

“Now that’s not really fair, I mean you don’t know Ethan personally so don’t judge new girl.” He said as he handed her the last of her books from the ground. Alexis couldn’t help but to roll her eyes at the thought of Ethan Jones being a nice guy.

“You sound like you know the guy pretty good.” She said.

“Yeah I think I know myself pretty damn well actually.’ he said with a cocky, self assuring smile. Alexis looked wide eyed at him while she could feel the heat rise through out her face. ‘I’m Ethan and you are?” She didn’t say anything for a moment as she was still in shock and full blown embarrassment.

“I…I’m Alexis, Alexis Liester. I’m sorry, for calling you an asshole.”

“Don’t worry about it, I get that a lot.” He said while still showing that bright smile. He opened the door and waited for Alexis to walk threw. Once she had entered the café he followed and started walking with her towards the tables. They walked across the room until they saw a table that was closest to the windows. Sitting at the table was Madison Jones, Sammie DeMaris and two other students. Alexis walked up with Ethan to the table where he threw his bag to the ground and landed himself in the first available chair.

“Afternoon Alexis, I see you’ve met my horribly annoying brother.” Madison said as she popped a grape in her mouth.

“Yeah I sure did” she said shyly. Ethan kicked out the chair next to him and with his eyes told her to sit. She finally slid her backpack off of her shoulder and placed her books on the table to si-*t within the circle of the “cool kids”.

“Alexis, can I call you Lexi?” Madison asked. Alexis looked over at Ethan, remembering what he had said about Madison always getting what she wanted. Ethan’s left eyebrow rose slightly, waiting for her answer.

“Of course.” Alexis agreed. It wasn’t as if she minded being called Lexi it was just different.

“Good, Lexi this is my friend Cecilia Von Abbott but we all call her C.C for short.’ A short, very thin red headed girl pursed her cherry red lips together and nodded her head once.’ And that is David Crosse. He’s Ethan’s ratting best friend. Don’t let him fool you Lexi dear, David isn’t as well off as he seems which means middle class.”

“Fuck you Maddie.” A tall, well built blond said across the table from Madison. He was handsome just as the others were but not as good looking as Ethan, womanizer or not. There was just something about Ethan that stuck out to Alexis.

“Don’t call me Maddie, you know how much I hate that.” Madison declared. David only smiled and shot a look to Ethan. Although they both hung around with Madison they still liked to torment her just like any older brother/younger sister/brother’s best friend relationship.

After they had finally stopped arguing over little things Cecilia took a grape from Madison’s plate and held it in front of her face before throwing it in. When it was down she went for another.

“So Madison tells us that you’re a transfer, how do you like it here so far?” she asked, munching on the second grape she had in her hand.

“It’s been okay so far, but my day is only half over with.” Alexis noticed that Madison and C.C shared glances with one another before they got up from their chairs just as the bell rang. Alexis couldn’t believe that lunch was already over but she did spend some time out in the hall with Ethan embarrassing herself. Madison wanted Sammie to walk her to her next class and C.C, like a trained puppy, followed as well. Ethan and David got up as well while asking Alexis what class she had next.
“Mrs. Hillcrest, biology, room B5?” David asked with an odd look on his face. Alexis questioned his look and Ethan explained that Mrs. Hillcrest’s Biology class was advanced.

“I take a lot of honors classes.” She explained.

“What grade are you in?” Ethan asked.

“I’m in eleventh grade but I take a few twelfth grade courses as well a collage course or two.” She said and the two boys were floored.

“How old are you?” David asked.

“Fifteen but my birthday is next month.” She said. She hoped that her age wouldn’t frighten them off. She had always been smarter then others around her and when they found out her age they ran for the hills. No one wanted to be seen with a child.

“New girl is a baby.” David said with a chuckle.

“I’m not a baby. I’m just really smart so they put in a bunch of difficult classes. It was the same thing at my last school.’ She said. David was still floored that she was so young yet so smart while Ethan just stood there, looking at her with a smirk. ‘Look it’s fine if none of you wanna hang around me anymore, I’m so young I mean your all at least seventeen and I get it alright.”

“Come on new girl, I’ll walk you to class.” Ethan said putting his arm around her. David followed them as they left the lunchroom and entered the busy hallways. They walked to the science wing of the building and walked into 5B with her. They introduced her to the teacher who had her set in the back of the classroom at the table closest to the door.

“Thanks, that was nice of you to walk me this far.” She said to Ethan and David both.

“No problem.” Ethan said as he took a seat next to her at the table. David sat at the next table with a heavy set boy.

“You’re both in this class too?” she asked as she watched David pull out his ipod. He put the ear pieces in and picked a good song. He gave Alexis and Ethan a thumb up signaling that he was ready for class to start. Ethan just looked at her and that was making her very nervous.

“Yeah were smarter then we look.’ He pulled out his notebook, a pen so that he could take notes and his book. Realizing that Alexis didn’t have a book he turned around in his chair and grabbed a book from the shelf behind him and handed it to her. ‘I’ll tell the teacher I gave you one after class.” He said. Alexis nodded and took the book from his hand.

The class soon started. They were working on biological urban legends. The teacher was going over slides of the unusual creatures and Alexis was having a hard time trying to focus on the pictures because all she could picture was Sammie kissing her hand and Ethan, dreamy Ethan who she wasn’t supposed to like because he was a dog. Her concentration was broken when a folded up piece of paper slid across the table to her. She picked it up and unfolded it where the teacher wouldn’t see.

‘You’re a cutie you know that?” it read. Alexis was stunned at the words. Ethan was trying to make a move on her even knowing her age. She took her pen and wrote back.

‘You think huh? Aren’t I little young for you? How old are you even?’ she wrote back to him.

‘Yeah I think you’re cute, you are too young until next month that is and I’m seventeen.’

‘When is YOUR birthday?’ she asked back.

“May, then you will be out of my reach unless…’

Alexis didn’t write anything else back, instead she just tried to focus on the slides. Not too long later the lights in the room came back on and the projector was turned off. The teacher said that they were going to be getting into groups of two and pick an animal that was rare and at one time thought to be a myth. They were to do a report on it and it would be due the next week.

Alexis looked around, seeing everyone else partner up, and it was making her slightly depressed because she was new and didn’t know anyone. Well no one besides Ethan and David and she didn’t see either one of them being good partners. She saw David get up and walk to a shy, slightly obese girl with glasses. Ethan turned to face her.

“How come you and David don’t…?” she asked while twirling her pencil around in her hand.

“David doesn’t like to do any of the work so I refuse to work with him. I actually work on projects. That girl up there,’ he said pointing to the girl David was now setting with.’ Thats Ellie and she has the lowest self esteem in the school and she also happens to be in love with David. She would kill for him.”

“Do you have someone who is completely obsessed with you?” she asked him.

“Oh yeah I’m sure, just don’t know who. Think you could be?’ he asked with a devilish grin. She rolled her eyes at the thought of her being so boy crazy and being boy crazy over Ethan Jones make her laugh a little inside.’ So what do ya say? Wanna be my partner?” After thinking about it for a moment Alexis finally agreed. She didn’t know if that was a good or bad choice but she did it.
