Timber Creek Part 5 (Final) Empty

Content Warning: This part of the story contains strong Violence/Gore that might not be suitable for all readers, if this is something that you don't wish to read please do not read any further. Thank you

Tara tried to look into Matt’s eyes but he lowered his head so that she couldn’t. She took his face within her hands, raising it to where she could see straight into his eyes. He had been crying so much his eyes were bloodshot.

“Matt fucking tell me! We’re you the one who killed her or not?’ she yelled at him. He was still silent as a mouse, she could barely hear him breath. It was only when she hugged him closely that she felt that his heart was still beating. ‘Matt, please just tell me the truth.” She whispered.

He started to laugh as he slowly fell to the wet ground, pulling her down with him by her hands. She wrapped her hands around his wet hair, pulling him into her chest. He was pitiful looking as he hugged her up as closely as he could, crying like a baby.

“Matt, you have to tell me the truth. No matter what it is.” Tara demanded. He rose up from her lap and wiped his nose. There were still tears in his eyes but he didn’t bother to remove those so she did it for him. She ran her thumbs under each of his eyes and looking into them, longing for him to tell her what really happened.

“I…I killed her. I’m the one who fucking killed her. I took her life but I still have mine. I can’t do this anymore Tara; I can’t live with myself anymore.” Matt said through his tears that continued to roll down his face. Tara was speechless for a moment then hugged him tightly again.

“It will be okay but you have to go to the police, you have to turn yourself in and take responsibility for what you did. You said there was another person, another one of your friends. You didn’t do this alone obviously. Matt you have to turn the other person’s name over.” She begged him but he only shook her head. Her eyes grew as large as teacups in her shock at what he was telling her.

“I promised that I wouldn’t give that name over and even if I did turn myself in I couldn’t live with myself. I’ve barely been alive since it happened. I needed you to know what kind of a person I am Tara, I need you to know what happened, how it happened.” Matt told her. Tara became a bit stand offish when he told her that he wanted her to know everything. She didn’t know if she wanted too, but told him to go on with his story.

“After we took her here, we laid her down and I started to freak out. I didn’t know what he was planning on doing until it happened. He slapped me and told me to calm down and to focus on what we were doing. I stayed quiet and watched him. He walked to her body and felt for a pulse and she had one still. He got an evil, sick grin across his face and he…” he stopped.

“He what?” Tara asked him, encouraging him to continue.

“He unbuttoned her pants and pulled them down with her underwear.’ He watched as Tara cupped her mouth to try and hide her shocked looked. Tears began to form in her beautiful eyes as she continued to think about what was done to that little girl.’ He wanted to but I stopped him. I wasn’t going to let him do that to her. When I told him not to do it he shoved me away from him and he started to lurk towards her again with that disgusting look in his eye. I knew what he was going to do and I wanted to stop him so I grabbed another rock, a larger one and I threw it at him.

I knocked him down but he didn’t stay down. He threw himself at me and when he did I took out my switch blade. I wanted to save her and myself. He had this crazy look in his eyes; it was like I didn’t even know who he was anymore. We wrestled around on the ground for a while until he landed on top of her body. I wasn’t thinking anything other then survival so I tried to stab him but he moved and got her instead. Oh my god Tara, she was awake from being hit in the head. She knew what was happening and you should have heard her scream when I stabbed her. It was horrifying. There was just so much blood, everywhere.”

Tara’s expression went from shocked to overwhelming sadness. She was sad for Lisa Kimball but mostly she was sad for Matt. He hadn’t meant to hurt anyone and she knew that. Although she knew what he had done she wasn’t afraid of him, she loved him dearly. She wrapped her arms around his firm torso and he around her small shoulders. Once he released her he pulled off his hoodie and handed it to her. She grabbed it but was puzzled why he was giving it too her. He never let anyone touch that hoodie.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

“Giving this to you, I want you to have it.’ He lent into her and kissed her again, gently.’ I will always love you. Please don’t forget that and I want you to remember us the way we were when we were little okay.”

“I don’t understand Matt, what are you talking about?”

“Here,’ he said handing her a small piece of white paper.’ I promised that I wouldn’t tell who else helped me but the name is on this paper. Someone had to have seen something or there has to been some kind of evidence against that person. If you want too, here it is.”

“What about you? Just tell them everything, it was an accident.”

“Even if it was I just can’t live with that image in my head for the rest of my life so I’m gonna do the only thing I know to do to stop them.”

From his back Matt pulled a small gun that he firmly placed to his chin. Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion at that time and but then everything went so fast and their lives were changed forever.

“Matt NO!” she yelled at the top of her lungs.

“Love you.” And with those final words the gun fired and the bullet left the chamber and entered his body with enough force to knock him backwards. Tara stood, motionless looking at his lifeless body that was moving only seconds ago.
She didn’t move. She didn’t know if she could. She stood there with rain still falling on her still holding the piece of paper he had given her. She shoved it into her jeans pocket and collapsed to the ground; looking at her friend and watching the water wash away some blood that was traveling down the banks of Timber Creek
