A crushing weight? No, that’s not what it feels like.
More like…a burning somewhere deep inside your soul. One that you can’t reach, can’t touch no matter how hard you try.
And I’ve tried. Oh how I’ve tried to touch that flame…
But then I stop trying. Because what nobody tells you, is that it’s not even there. It’s the greatest trick the universe ever pulled. And I fall for it every time.
By the time I remember it’s all a lie, I’ve already tore my heart apart trying to get there.
At least when I feel it, even if I can’t touch it, it reminds me I do have a soul.
I am not lost.
